The Firefox development team released Firefox 2 Beta
2
today. I have a couple visual gripes in version 2, like the inability to
easily remove red "X" on tabs through an options menu item, and the
addition of a green "go" arrow to the right of the address bar. I know,
picky picky.
I'll have to fully try it out later, this latest release is too beta for
me. In the mean time I'll be sticking with version 1.5.0.6. If you've
been using it, let me know what you think of it.
edit: 11/06
To remove the green "go arrow", go to about:config, and look for:
browser.urlbar.hideGoButton
and set it to True
To remove the red x from individual tabs, and place it on the right hand
side, look for:
browser.tabs.closeButtons
and set it to 3
Check out
http://kb.mozillazine.org/Browser.tabs.closeButtons
for more info on other options
To remove the "List all tabs" button, add this to userChrome.css:
/* Remove List Tabs button */ .tabs-alltabs-stack,
.tabs-alltabs-box, .tabs-alltabs-box-animate, .tabs-alltabs-button {
display: none !important; }

Wow, summer went by quick! I remember the first day of my internship:
nervous, excited and no idea what to expect. I've learned a lot these
past couple months, an experience you just don't get from sitting in a
classroom. I met a lot of cool people who were fun to work with and
really knew their jobs well. I really look forward to any opportunities
that lie ahead for me, as this is only the beginning of a long road to
go.
Cheers to everyone I've worked with this summer, and hope to see you
again someday!

Everytime I see Bigfoot's "Killer"
NIC being mentioned on websites
and forums, I just have to laugh. It's got interesting features like:
bypassing the Windows TCP/IP stack and processing within the hardware,
and running embedded Linux that's accessible via console. It makes for
an cool toy to play with, but for $279.00, save your money!
Bottom line: You're better off just getting a faster internet
connection.

I'm enthused to hear Ross Anderson has made his book, Security
Engineering available online and FREE to
download. He explains his
reasoning at his
website;
to reach the widest possible audience, especially among poor students
and being a supporter of free culture and free software.
I have no excuse now to read it, and actually cannot wait to get to it
that I am putting other books aside. I've heard so much about this book
lately, and when I get through it I will be buying a copy to keep within
reach. Thank you, Ross!

I've enrolled in the following classes this coming Fall semester (summer
just went by too quick), and would like to hear your input on them. I'm
including the professor's names in addition, since one class with
different instructors is never the same.
- LAW370 - Legal Issues for Electronic Media w/ Thomas Liffiton
- MAT180 - Pre-Calculus w/ Dritan Zela
- NTS450 - Security Assessment Methodology w/ Greg Miles
- PHY110 - Physics w/ Jose Rosario
I'll be back in Arizona on September 5 (yes, the same day classes
start..) early in the morning. Flying out of BDL at 7AM and arriving in
PHX at 9AM.
